Book of Caty: Missing You (DD)

My sweet, beautiful Caty, we're in Lubbock right now with your Mama's family. We had to leave the house for a few days. Our home feels less serene since you passed away. I even looked at other houses in Midland thinking it might make us feel better to just start over, but that's not a smart thing to do. In the past, we looked at houses, but we didn't want to get into debt. The same still applies today: we don't want to buy another home when we don't have long to own the only house you ever knew. Regardless of being able to afford the exorbitant house prices in Midland, we really don't want to move or spend money so needlessly. So, we settled for second best: to go out-of-town. Spending time away from the house has helped your mama and I heal a little. I doubt that our heartbreak will ever be completely quelled over losing you, but it will get easier. For now, we just need a little time away from the house. Time to reflect on your beautiful, precious life without hearing your phantom footsteps or imagining the smart, cool things you would do. You were such a smart fur baby; sometimes quirky - never mean, fidgety, or rambunctious. I miss you so much, Caty. When we get home later today, I'm sure your absence is going to hit us hard - all over again.
